The Importance of Daily Scripture Reading
Renewing Our Minds to Follow YAH’ Son
As believers, we often wrestle with life’s challenges, seeking answers and healing from Yah. While it is natural to bring our struggles to Him in prayer, we must also remember that Yah has given us His Word as a tool for transformation, healing, and growth. Without immersing ourselves in Scripture daily, we leave room for the influences of the world to take root, leading to confusion, doubt, and stagnation in our spiritual journey.
My oldest daughter’s reflection highlights a common struggle: Why hasn’t God already fixed this? It’s a heartfelt question that many believers ask when faced with challenges, particularly those that seem to persist despite fervent prayer. But Yah’s Word teaches us that true transformation comes not merely by asking for change but by taking the necessary steps to allow His Spirit to work within us—primarily through the renewal of our minds.

We Must Renew Our Minds Daily
The process of renewal is not instantaneous; it requires intentional effort to immerse ourselves in the truth of Scripture. Yahusha (Jesus) called His followers to abide in Him through His Word. This abiding is the foundation of a transformative relationship with our Creator.
Key Scriptures on Renewing Our Minds:
- Romans 12:2 (NIV):
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Without daily Scripture, we risk conforming to the world’s ways instead of being transformed to think like Christ.
- Ephesians 4:22-24 (NIV):
“You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”
Our minds must be constantly renewed to align with the righteousness and holiness of Yahusha.
- Colossians 3:2 (NIV):
“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”
A daily focus on Yah’s Word helps us fix our thoughts on heavenly truths rather than worldly distractions.
- 2 Corinthians 10:5 (NIV):
“We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”
Reading Scripture equips us to identify and reject worldly thoughts, replacing them with God’s truth.

The Word is Living Water
Yah has given us His Word as living water—life-giving, sustaining, and healing. However, we must drink from this well daily to experience its renewing power. Just as we cannot expect to stay hydrated by drinking water once a week, we cannot expect spiritual renewal without daily engagement with Scripture.
John 7:38 (NIV):
“Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”
The Spirit flows through the Word, bringing renewal and change to our hearts and minds.
Psalm 1:2-3 (NIV):
“But whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.”
Meditating on Scripture day and night strengthens us and anchors us in Yah’s truth.

A Relationship, Not a Genie
Prayer without engaging with Scripture risks reducing our relationship with Yah to a transactional one—seeking Him only to fulfill our desires rather than to align our hearts with His will. A genuine relationship with Yah requires effort on our part: surrendering, seeking, and abiding.
John 15:4-5 (NIV):
“Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.”
Remaining in Yahusha through His Word ensures we grow and bear spiritual fruit, even in the face of difficulties.

Encouragement for my Daughter
My daughter’s statement about her struggles with autism is deeply personal and honest. While it may feel like a “thorn in the flesh,” as Paul described in 2 Corinthians 12:7-9, Yah’s grace is sufficient, and His power is made perfect in weakness. However, we must do our part by renewing our minds daily with Scripture, trusting Yah to use every challenge for His glory.
Encouraging her with these truths:
Yah made her fearfully and wonderfully (Psalm 139:14) and has a purpose for her life, even with the challenges she faces.
Renewal and healing often come through a process of daily surrender and abiding in the Word, not instantaneous fixes.
Yah doesn’t promise to remove all difficulties but promises to walk with us and use them to draw us closer to Him.

Call to Action
Believers must commit to reading and meditating on Scripture daily. Without it, we leave space for the world’s influence to creep in and shape our thoughts, leading us away from the truth. But when we engage with Yah’s Word, our minds are renewed, our hearts are healed, and we are empowered to think and live like Yahusha/Yeshua/Jesus.
Let us be intentional in our relationship with Yah, recognizing that His Word is the key to transformation and the foundation of a life that glorifies Him. As it is written:
Joshua 1:8 (NIV):
“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”
