Words of Encouragment

When the Word Becomes You

Inspired by a message from Dionne

Recently, my dear friend Dionne sent me a message that stirred something deep in my spirit. She said:

“I just heard something profound: When you go through enough trials, you no longer remember scripture— instead, the scripture becomes you. It’s living, and we become more and more like His character. I love Him so much, that He established a way for me to submit to His will and way.”

There is such depth and truth in this. As we journey through life—especially through the fire of trials—something beautiful happens: we don’t just recall Scripture, we begin to reflect it. It ceases to be a list of verses and becomes the shape of our soul. The Word becomes alive in us.

“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us…” – John 1:14

This Scripture speaks of Yeshua (Jesus), the Living Word, but it also echoes what happens in us when we surrender to YAH’s Spirit. The more we walk with Him through suffering, obedience, worship, and waiting, the more His Word becomes our nature.

Trials Shape Us into the Living Word

“Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.” – James 1:2-3

When we endure trials, we’re not just surviving—we’re being shaped. The refining fire teaches us what a thousand quiet days could not. It chisels away our flesh so that the character of Yeshua can rise in us. In time, we don’t just say, “I know that verse,” we live it.

The Word Is Alive in Us

“For the word of YAH is living and active, sharper than any double-edged sword…” – Hebrews 4:12

The Word is not dead ink. It is living breath. And when we walk closely with YAH, through every valley and mountaintop, the Word becomes our instinct, not just our instruction. It becomes the light in our darkness, the peace in our storm, and the compass in our confusion.

“Let the Word of the Messiah dwell in you richly…” – Colossians 3:16a

And when it does, we no longer strain to remember it—it flows from within us.

He Made a Way to Submit

“Trust in YAH with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.” – Proverbs 3:5-6

Dionne’s words remind me of the beauty of YAH’s design: “He established a way for me to submit to His will and way.” That way is Yeshua—the Word made flesh—and through Him, we have access to the Father, the Spirit, and a life fully transformed.

Submission is not punishment—it’s protection. It’s the safest, most freeing place to be.

“And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the glory of YAH, are being transformed into His image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from YAH, who is the Spirit.” – 2 Corinthians 3:18

This is the journey: becoming more and more like Him, not by force but by presence. Not by memorization, but by transformation. Not by religion, but by relationship.

The Word becomes us.

And we become more like Him.
